There are many opportunities here at our parish to grow in your faith, whether you are single, married, young parents, empty nesters, or somewhere in-between!
ADULT CHOIR: Our Adult Choir sings at the Sunday 8:15 am Mass, and they are always looking for new voices to join them! Call Aiden Rickel, Directory of Music Ministry at x110 or email arickel@stjosephhowell.com to inquire.
CHILDREN'S LITURGY: For families with young children, we offer Children's Liturgy throughout the school year, during the 11:00 am Mass. How does it work? After the opening Mass prayers, children are invited to come forward to join the leaders in front of the altar. Father will give the children a special blessing, as they "follow the leader" and process out of the church over to the Emmaus Room (meeting room in the church activity center). Through song, crafts, and prayer, the children will be taught the Sunday readings on a level appropriate to their age. The kids will have fun, while learning about God's Word! The children come back to the church at offertory time, just before the Liturgy of the Eucharist, heading back to sit by their parents for the remainder of Mass.
LITURGICAL MINISTRIES:
Eucharistic Ministers and Readers: If you would like to be trained as an EEM or Reader to serve at Mass, please contact our Director of Liturgical Ministries, Sue Miller at x108 or email smiller@stjosephhowell.org. We are always looking for more people to serve the Lord in these important roles.
Altar Servers: Altar Server trainings are held throughout the year, and we encourage all of our young parishioners, grades 4 and up, to come and learn about this important ministry.
Homebound Ministry: We have a group of volunteers that take Holy Communion to the Nursing Homes, Hospital, and to individual homes to minister to those who cannot come to Mass. This ministry means the world to those who are separated from our fold due to illness, mobility, or age. If you would like to be trained to serve the homebound, please contact Lorraine Crawford, Director of Homebound Ministry at x402 or lcrawford@stjosephhowell.com.
SPANISH MASS: Each Sunday at 2:00 pm we offer a Spanish Mass, with prayers and songs in Spanish. Along with our Pastor, we have visiting priests from our vicariate who come to celebrate this Mass. The homily is translated from English to Spanish - on the spot - by a translator. All are welcome to attend this Mass.
